Mark your calendars to attend ARK's 10th Annual Wildlife Benefit on Saturday, March 2nd from noon until 4pm at Rockwood Nature Center. This is a free event and all proceeds will go towards the milk replacers, food items, medication, and housing for the injured and orphaned native VA wildlife in our care. Plan on a day of fun to include our Silent Auction, education programs with live animals, children's games, face painting, and door prizes. Donations of items from our wish list are accepted as well as financial donations. ARK is a 501 (c) (3) non-proffit organization and all items are tax deductible. This is a great opportunity to show your support for our wildlife and to meet the rehabilitators in our area.

The weather definitely had an impact on our turn out, but we are pleased to announce that the benefit raised almost $1000.00 that will go towards purchasing milk replacers, food items, medical supplies, and caging for the animals in our care. No amount is too big or too small, you can also purchase an item on our wish list, or volunteer your time. Spring is just around the corner so please make sure to check out the Facebook page and support ARK ARK will have volunteers at Barnes & Noble in Chesterfield Towne Centre wrapping Christmas gifts for donations on Monday, the 12th and Tuesday 13th from 10:00 am through 2:00 pm. All donations will go to feed the animals we have in our care. It's December, don't forget that ARK has been chosen as December charity of the month at the Thrifty Quaker. That means that the profit for the month will be shared with ARK. They are also taking donations for sale. The Thrifty Quaker is located at 13567 Midlothian Turnpike, VA 23113-4261. Do some shopping, donating and visiting the fine people that work there to help us help the wildlife of Virginia! Spring will be here before you know it, and our rehabbers will be bombarded with orphaned babies! Members of ARK were quoted in the Chesterfield Observer newspaper on September 7th. The article called "Getting Squirrely" includes pictures of several baby squirrels that were brought to ARK in the days following Hurricane Irene, and several ARK rehabbers and volunteers were quoted. Rehabbers and volunteers worked around the clock feeding and nursing the animals back to health, some battling to care for the animals without power. ARK is a non proffit organization and is dependent on the public for their donations to aid in caring for our local wildlife. We also have caging repair needs if there are any handy individuals willing to donate their skills. ARK is accepting your gently used yardsale items for our yard sale which will be held on August 20th from 8am - noon in the front yard on Country Living Homes located at 2504 Anderson Highway in Powhatan. All donated items are tax deductible and all proceeds from the sale will go towards the feed and medical supplies needed by ARK's rehabbers for the Native Virginia Wildlife in our care.
